Borders are “part or edge of a surface or area that forms its outer boundary” (www.dictionary.com, 2019). From following our blog, you will see the different takes on borders we have discussed. Stemming from technological borders to organisational borders, we have gone beyond the border.
However, how could we write a blog about borders, and not address the elephant in the room?
When writing another blog about the use of technology on hard borders, searching “camera on borders” gave me inspiration for this blog post. In Image C, you will see what image I wanted. In image A and B, you will see the image that the search engine returned. (Although, it was my fault for choosing Google search engine)..

In a literal sense, borders in information systems play a key role. They add structure and clarity to data and documents. They ease the reader’s experience when reading a document.
Another example of borders in information systems, in a literal sense is Borders Group Inc.
Borders Group Inc. (Bloomberg.com, 2019)
Founded in 1971, Borders Group was an international book and music retailer (Bloomberg.com, 2019). They operated an e-commerce website “Borders.com”, similar to our very own https://borders.video.blog/. Unfortunately, Borders Group filed for liquidation in 2010, later going bankrupt in 2011 (Bloomberg.com, 2019). Although bankrupt, Borders Group continues to appear when searching about borders in a different sense.
Hopefully, with AI and machine learning advancements search engines will soon be able to realise exactly which type of border we are searching for. In the meantime, keep scrolling!
